Art is the Managing Partner of Franklin Templeton Private Equity (FTPE). He has over twenty years of experience across both principal investing and institutional investment management platforms.
Prior to FTPE, Art served as Managing Director, Private Investments for the City and County of San Francisco Employees’ Retirement System (SFERS), where he led SFERS’ investment teams in private equity, venture capital, real estate, natural resources and other real assets.
Previously, Art served as the Director of Private Equity for the New York State Common Retirement Fund, where he oversaw a $15 billion global private equity portfolio. Prior to New York Common, Art served as Executive Director and Head of U.S. Private Equity for CDIB Capital, the overseas investment arm of China Development Financial Holdings.
Art was previously a Principal with Pacific Venture Partners, where he pursued cross-border venture capital and private equity investments in the U.S. and China. Art also served as an Associate at Goldman Sachs, providing strategic and financial advisory services as a member of the firm’s global High Technology and Mergers & Acquisition Groups. Previously, Art served as a strategy consultant with Braxton Associates and a project engineer with BBN Technologies.
Art holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and Master and Bachelor of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering from MIT.
